The Ezy-Glide Recovery Ring is light, strong and engineered to exceed expectations. This kit includes one 18,000kg Soft Shackle with Protective Sheath bundled with the recovery ring.
When size and weight are serious factors in recovery kits, we are proud to offer this heavy-duty, small and lightweight alternative to a snatch block. This recovery ring weighs less than 1kg (2.2lbs), and has a total diameter of only 143mm, with an internal diameter of 96mm. Based on this size, it is almost a 1/4 of the weight of a similar rated snatch block.
We suggest you combine the ring with either our Bound Soft Shackle or Sheath Soft Shackle, as both have been extensively tested and show the best results to minimise frictional load.
We deliberately are not the smallest ring on the market, but as we outline below, this ring was specially designed in consultation with winch rope fibre manufacturers to reduce wear and fatigue on the ropes being used in conjunction with the ring.
Note: The Ezy-Glide Recovery ring must ONLY be used with soft shackles and synthetic winch ropes.
What makes the Saber Offroad Ezy-Glide Recovery Ring a true market leader? Here are the key advantages:
Engineered to Maximise Capacity and Minimise Rope Wear
When we looked at the design of the ring, we wanted to not only make sure it works well, it is light, small, but it must also protect the winch rope from fatigue leading to damage. We know that any tight bend in a rope under load decreases its strength and can cause damage, potentially leading to premature failure. In discussions with our winch line fiber manufacturers, we were advised that an 8:1 ratio for internal channel diameter (not outer diameter) is recommended. With our internal channel of 96mm (outer 143mm), we have a product ideal for winch ropes up to 12mm (1/2″).
Rope Diameter |
Recovery Ring Internal Minimum Suggested Diameter |
6mm | 48mm |
8mm | 64mm |
10mm | 80mm |
12mm | 96mm |
This ring is one of only a few on the market with an internal channel design suitable for synthetic winch ropes of 10mm or above.
The channel profile is specifically designed to support the rope and reduce the flattening of the fibres under load.

In the end, not all rings are created equal and we believe this engineered solution is truly a market leader.
We're Australians, and we like to support our fellow Australians, which is why all our products are sourced locally from the official Australian distributors. Nothing is imported directly and we don't stock any grey imports. This also means that all manufacturer warranties are fully honored by the brands themselves.
This is one big recovery thimble, looks super tuff.

The winch is good but had to upgrade the wiring that came with it. The winch hit a peak of 125 amps pulling my 5 mtr side console onto the trailer.
It seemed to do it easy, but the standard wiring was way too hot afterward for my liking.
I use my boat a lot so I wanted to make sure the winch could pull all the power it wants with no issues.
Batteries supplying the winch are 2 x 200-amp hour lithium’s (LifePo4) wired in parallel that give a combined continuous peak amp output of up to 205 amps for 5 mins.
Upgraded all the wiring to 0 AWG ultra-high current marine power cable capable of handling 200amps and changed over to 175 amp rated Anderson plugs.
Housed the solenoid and rocker switch in a waterproof switch box with cable glands for cabling and mounted it to the trailer.
It wasn’t cheap at around $600 for the upgraded cabling, terminal lugs, heat shrink and waterproof housing, but it was well and truly worth it.
Went away fishing and put the boat on and off the trailer everyday for 8 days. At one particularly steep ramp with wind and current playing havoc the winch didn’t miss a beat.
